HTC Desire Custom-Rom Review: Pays-ROM Froyo Sense v2.0 – Part 1
Yesterday (2010/08/26) I flashed a new Custom Rom onto my HTC Desire.
It’s Pays “Pays-Rom Froyo Sense v2.0 A2SD+ [With NEW Addons!] [26/AUG/10]” which i got through xda-developers.
At first I was really sceptic, because I had some significant signing problems when I wanted to flash it.But when I looked closely I found out the rom wasn’t complete.
It was missing just some byte so you couldn’t tell from one quick look.
Ok, I should have checked the checksum, but I was lazy and I wanted to get it done.
So after flashing Pay’s Rom I wanted to get my backups running.
At that moment I was using appbrain to restore my apps (Review later).
It was a desaster.
I got 3 apps running and then nothing else happend … none of my other apps wanted to be downloaded.
I thought about reflashing the Rom, but wanted to give it one last try by rebooting my Desire.
When it came back on, I got some com.google.acore crashes.
So my only options where reboot and whipe or reflash.
I didn’t want to reflash so I went with rebooting and whiping.
After doing so for three times everything started to work just fine.
No problem at all.
So I decided to give it another try, so I can tell if it was my fault or the Rom’s.
Surprisingly everything whent quiet good.
And even installing the apps didn’t destroy anything.
So I think it must have been something I didn’t do right the first time.
At the moment everything works quiet fast and fluid so I think I’ll stay with Pay’s Roms as long as he supports the HTC Desire.
Only thing I’m going to try in the next few weeks is to get the USB-Host support working in the kernel.
More on Pay’s Rom in the second Part.
So … live long and prosper,
